The respect you show your leaders will be reflected in the respect that is shown to you as a leader. If you are constantly questioning the one God has put over you, expect those under you to question your leadership as well! David was subject to the leadership of Saul to the point of persecution, and God rewarded him for it.
Your experience of God will be expanded or limited by your faith. David saw giants fall and a Kingdom expand because he actually believed that if God was for him no one could stand against him. It was his faith that led to his experience. Anyone could have taken on that giant. David was the only one who found out what it feels like to have God use him in that way because he was the only one who believed God could do it.
God doesn’t fight against those who fall. He fights against those who don’t think they need Him. Saul fell but didn’t believe he needed God. David fell but realizing his need for God, he dropped to his knees to beg for mercy.
God loves passionate people. It’s not a coincidence that two of the most crucial human characters in God’s story are David and Peter. These guys were both a little insane. Don’t hold back your passion for God because it sometimes leads you to make mistakes. Keep passionately pursuing. God uses that.
God loves honesty. Why does God put all of these honest conversations between David and Himself in His word? He has to love honest conversation. Don’t limit your experience of God by hiding your feelings. Engage—let Him take you from your anger to praise just as He did so many times with David.
