Today I retweeted a quote by Wollstonecraft which speaks directly to the temptations we all face every day. The quote although not entirely accurate states, “No man chooses evil because it is more evil? He only mistakes it for happiness.” I’m not positive that this is true without exception but I do believe it to be at the heart of what most of us face on a day-to-day basis.
You see today you will not be tempted to give up on God, but simply to believe that if you were to follow Him entirely you would miss out. You would miss out on what makes you happy. Such as making that purchase you can’t afford, looking a little longer at that woman who is not your wife, taking a few more pills, joining in the conversation about your coworker. You would miss out on what you enjoy. You would miss out on what satisfies you.
It’s the great lie, and without a doubt you will face it at some point today. Remember it’s a lie.
