Staying Close

Summer time is always interesting for people spiritually. Our natural tendency during the summer is to take a break from anything and everything. It’s necessary, and yet at the same time it can be devastating spiritually. It doesn’t have to be.

It’s important that you take time during the summer to get away. It’s important that you spend time with family, and this is the perfect time for that to happen. At the same time, it’s crucial that you continue to experience and enjoy your heavenly Father. Here are some ways to help you grow this summer while enjoying the rest that summer brings.

Podcasts. While traveling don’t miss your experience of God through the weekly conversation happening at your local church. Make a point of downloading and listening to the podcast while you travel.

Dinner Groups. Make sure you stay connected with the midweek groups you are part of. If you’re not part of a group, join one. More travel takes place on weekends meaning that your midweek connection will be more consistent during the summer than your weekend connection.

Daily Vacation Readings. Start your vacation days with God. There is nothing that will refresh you more than spending time away with God. Your time with Him will have less distractions and will be more rewarding than your time at home.

Set Goals. What do you want to see happen in your life spiritually this summer? Set a goal and go for it. This is a great time to work on your habits as you tend to have more personal time during the summer.

Serve. Take on a service project that will allow you to experience God through loving others. Let it be a temporary thing that you can enjoy this summer. It can be a day project or a week project but it will refresh you.

This summer can be extremely refreshing and rewarding as you relax enjoy family and experience your heavenly Father!
