Iron

It really is rare to have a person in your life who can challenge you on anything, in a way that pushes you to have conversations that make you both better.  The trust that goes into an iron sharpening relationship is fairly extreme.  You have to trust that no matter what you hear from that person, beneath it, they are communicating love.  You have to assume that you misunderstood when it seemed they were saying something to hurt you.  You have to trust that the things they say that hurt are going to sharpen you.  And as a wise person once taught me, you have to trust that God can redeem the hurt when they do fail you.

I’ve been lucky enough to have several of those relationships in my life, and last night I walked out of one of those conversations thanking God again for this community He’s bringing together.
