Running

In my experience most of us are running from something. We’re running from failure so we have to succeed. We’re running from stress so we overindulge. We’re running from pain so we simply don’t stop moving. We’re running.

The message of Jesus Christ is a message that moves us from running from something to being with someone.

You don’t have to run from your failures. I’ve paid for that.

You don’t have to run from yourself. I can make you new.

You don’t have to run from your inadequacy. I can give you the righteousness of God.

You don’t have to run from meaninglessness. I can give you a mission.

Stop running! Embrace Christ and begin to be comfortable here.

It’s become overwhelmingly clear as I continue to engage in counseling that we are a people running away. We’re so terrified of failure that we run, and run to succeed. We’re terrified of loneliness so we run and run to find someone. We’re terrified of the discontent in our souls so we run and run. We’re terrified and we’re running.

Jesus Christ came to stop the running.

He took our place to stop the running from your sin.
